Numbing Sexual Arousal?

My girlfriend and i where messing around today and she reported that she becomes numb to the point where she is almost paralyzed. I was wondering what this was caused by, if it is common, if it is a bad thing, and if it is a bad thing if there is anything we can do about it. Thanks!
